REQUIREMENTS

This adventure is suitable for beginners to mountaineering, however participants must have recent experience hiking routes of extended length and gradient.

Join us on the Monte Rosa Glacier and take your first steps mountaineering at altitude.

The aim is to summit multiple 4,000 metre peaks which, depending on conditions, may include:

  • Punta Giordani

  • Piramide Vincent

  • Parrotspitze

  • Ludwigshohe

  • Cristo delle Vette

  • Punta Gnifetti

ITINERARY

You will arrive in Italy, and take the transfer from the airport to the Gressoney Valley.

Once there, you will check into your hotel for your overnight stay.

After breakfast you will meet with your Mountain Guide for a briefing. Your equipment will be checked and you will have the chance to rent anything you may need.

You will take the cable car from Staffal to Punta Indren (3,200 mt).

From there you will hike to the Mantova Hut (3,400 mt). Once you have arrived you will spend the afternoon acclimatising to the altitude and undertaking progression and technique exercises on the glacier.

You will start early to allow for a full day on the glacier.

The aim is to summit multiple 4,000+ metre peaks, which may include Punta Giordani, Piramide Vincent, Parrotspitze, Ludwigshohe and Cristo delle Vette.

The peaks that you will summit will depend on your group's experience and fitness, as well a the weather and environmental conditions.

On this day the goal is to summit Punta Gnifetti (4,554 mt), one of the highest peaks in the Alps, and the home of the Capanna Margherita hut.

After lunch, you will take the cable car back down to the valley where you will stay overnight.

After breakfast, you will check out of your accommodation and be transferred back to the airport for onward travel.

Transport Information

No Boundaries is an outdoor sports club, not a travel agency or tour operator. As such, we do not include flights in our adventures.

Our pick-up and drop off points for this adventure are as follows:

PICK UP

  • Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport - 1pm
  • Milan Linate Airport - 2pm
  • Milan Malpensa Airport - 3pm

Alternatively there is the option to fly to Turin or Geneva and make your own way to Pont Saint Martin Railway Station, where you can be picked up enroute. You also have the option to make your own way to the valley.

DROP OFF

  • Milan Malpensa Airport - 11am
  • Milan Linate Airport - 12pm
  • Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport - 1pm

We can also drop you off at Pont Saint Martin Railway Station for independent onward travel. Geneva and Turin are good alternative airport options.
