Via Ferrata Weekend in Aosta Valley

About
Val d'Aosta​ is the smallest region of Italy. Located in the North-west of the country, bordered by France and Switzerland it is surrounded by the highest and most majestic peaks in all of Europe. Mont Blanc, Matterhorn and Gran Paradiso to name a few.
Val d'Aosta​ despite its size is a popular destination due to it having numerous opportunities for outdoor activities whether it be the winter or summer. Dotted with Roman ruins and layered with a colourful history, Val d'Aosta​ is a must go for Lovers of the outdoors, delicious food and culture.
​
Tranquil walks through vineyards, centuries old woods and along the footpaths of Monte Rosa.

The valley is surrounded by lush alpine flora and fauna, making it easy on the eyes. Rocky peaks rise to over 4000m and the valley floor sits at 1600m. 

Participation Fee & Payment Options

The participation fee for these adventures start at £279.20 and we offer the following payment options:

1) Early Bird Pass: £279.20 (Available up to 60 days before the adventure starts)
2) Pay in advance Pass: £299 (Available up to 30 days before the adventure starts)
3) ​Pay in Instalments: Initial deposit of £174.50 followed by £34.90 for the next 5 months (Available up to 30 days before the adventure starts).

You can apply the pass to any Via Ferrata Weekend in Italy as long as the above time-frame are met. Passes are fully refundable up to 14 days before the adventure starts.

Adventure Plan
Day 1 - Arrival: Welcome to Italy! Shortly after arriving at the airport you will be picked up by our transport and driven to the accommodation. Once there, we’ll hold an initial briefing to introduce the team, go over the plan and aims of the weekend, and an equipment/clothing check. There’ll be opportunity for questions followed by free time and dinner.

Day 2: 

Transfer departure from the accommodation after breakfast to activity location - approximately 8.30 am.  
⁃On-site introductory briefing on the environment and the Ferrata.  
⁃Lunch break (packed lunch).  
⁃Continue and finish the route with return transportation to the accommodation.  

Day 3: 
Transfer departure from the accommodation after breakfast to activity location - approximately 8.30 am.  
⁃On-site introductory briefing on the environment and the Ferrata.  
⁃Lunch break (packed lunch).  
⁃Continue and finish the route with return transportation to the accommodation.  
​At the end of the second day of Via Ferrata, you’ll be driven back to airport. We’ll say goodbye and you'll take your flight back!
What is included in the participation fee ​

  • Transfer from and to the airport.
  • Shared accommodation (twin rooms with other participants) with breakfast. 
  • Transfer to and from activity locations (where necessary).
  • IFMGA Guides fees.
  • No Boundaries' team smile, support & assistance.​
  • Equipment Hire (via Ferrata KIT).

Not included:
  • Meals - you pay for these directly on site. We normally purchase packed lunch from the local groceries and ensure the option of evening meals with discounted prices for our members.
  • Flights - we are not a Tour Operator/Travel Agent and we do not resell flight tickets. However, if you wish travel with us, and benefit from group fares, please get in touch.
  • And everything that is not included in the list above.

No Boundaries is an outdoor sports club, not a travel agency or tour operator. As such, we do not include flights in our adventures. However, you can take advantage of our rates and T&Cs for group bookings if you travel with us. It may be more expensive than purchasing them on your own, but our tickets are flexible as they can be cancelled or refunded up to 14 days prior to departure. 

We will provide you more information about this opportunity in our welcome email. 
Alternatively, if you wish to make your own arrangements, please ensure that you are on time at one of the transfer pick up point listed below:

At the end of the activity, our transfer will drop off participants at:

  • Only at Milano Malpensa 6pm

Please note that the above schedule may be subject to change due to operational reasons and can be affected by traffic.

Equipment & Kit List
Please bring the following with you:
  • Backpack 25L minumum.
  • Hiking boots or approach shoes (not trainers/sneakers).
  • Lightweight gloves.
  • Outdoor pants (that offer flexibility and some abrasion resistance, not denim/jeans).
  • Sun glasses.
  • Warm and light clothes (for layering).
  • Sun screen.

The following equipment is provided:
  • Ferrata Kit.
  • Harness.
  • Helmet.

We will send you a detailed adventure summary via email 14 days before the activity starts.

It includes useful contacts, the weather forecast, recommended clothes, and other useful information. We also hold a group briefing upon arrival at the accommodation, where we’ll provide you with a detailed activity plan.

Sports Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend you purchase Sports Travel Insurance.

Sports Travel insurance will provide cover for the entire duration of your trip. It will cover you for any general travel issues, plus any issues related to the chosen sport(s). Cover is provided for your chosen sport, plus all other sports in the same sports group or lower groups. Policies can be Single trip or Annual multi-trip. Annual policies allow multiple single trips of up to 90 days each. There are 3 levels of cover available to choose from which allow you to select how much cover you require for cancellation, baggage, sports equipment etc.

Meals
Meals (except breakfast) are not included in the participation fee.

We usually purchase packed lunches at the local shop and dine together in the proximity of the accommodation.

While we love having lunch and dinner altogether, please remember that it is always optional and never compulsory, and you should never feel obliged to join us if you prefer not to.

Dinner fees ​are payable onsite both in EUR or in GBP.
