The Saltway Hiking
The Saltway is a trek with a very important past. It is for those who wish to walk in the steps of those who made the trade route. The trail begins in Casanova di Sinistra, through to the beautiful Capane di Cosola, up to Monte Antola on the third day and along the winding paths that lead to Uscia ending in the scenic Portofino. In ancient times salt was an extremely important commodity both in the diet and in the preservation of food. This Trekking traces the paths that were once used by those traders who brought salt from the sea to the hinterland, northwards crossing the Apennines.
To best enjoy the views and landscapes of this area, we will retrace the path backwards, from the inland towards the sea. This is a breathtaking route with beautiful views of the Paradise Gulf and the Apennines.
This journey provides beautiful views and an unforgettable and authentic experience of the Italian Apenines. 85 km of beauty, nature and solitude.
